In our family we try our best to eat a healthy breakfast - the first thing you put into your body each day ought to be something you can be proud of. Starting this month (It’s getting cold in Florida) I’ve added a warm and cozy morning Goji Berry tea to hydrate myself before breakfast. This is especially important because hungry Lisa did her best to dehydrate me all night!
And the superfood of the day: Goji Berries. Goji berries are dried red Chinese berries that I’ve eaten ever since I was a child (though I didn’t really appreciate them at the time). When they’re soft they can be eaten like raisins, but the dried ones can be added to tea, soup, or the morning oatmeal. When I was young I always picked those sweet Goji berries out of my soup because I hated to mix sweet with savory. Now I put them in my morning tea because I’m old enough to appreciate that they are rich in vitamin A, antioxidants (for immune function, vision and heart health), and protein to power me through the day. Plus they’re yummy!
Becoming a mom has made me a little extra cautious about what I put into my body. Not only does the food I eat nourish my breastfeeding daughter, I want to make sure that I am healthy so that I can be there for all the milestones in her life.
Have a wonderful and healthy weekend,
Dannie
Ps: We think Lisa looks like a blue belt karate baby in this cutie jammie and she is starting to loose her newborn hair, I’m a bit antsy to see what type of hair she will grow back, will it be straight like mommy or curly like daddy!
